Thanks for all your help, but still I'm not having any luck. Here's my the error log. Maybe this can help. When I run lspci, I get a ATI Rage 128 PP. Let me know if you need any more info.

As you mentioned in another post, we are talking about a Xpert 128 PCI not
AGP.  The ChipID returned is 0x5055.  I would very much like to get the
hardware acceleration working.  With it on, however, it does screen draws
very slowly and eventually crashes.

It could be that I have picked the wrong ChipID to emulate (0x5046).  I
don't know much about the driver and have been meaning to take a look at the
driver source to see what I can see.
