You could try reinstalling with a device actually attached to the composite output (a tv or a VCR) and reinstall Redhat Linux. This should allow you to output to a TV but It will probably limit your monitor display to 480X600 or what ever. It's ugly. I had the same problem using Windows but it is easier to disable the TV-out if you want to use the monitor. There is no reasonable way to do that with Linux.as far as I know. This area is evolving quickly but I see there's a long way to go. Some days I get rather frustrated myself. I've been trying to get games working that need DRI. Interestingly enough I found that mandrake provided the configuration information that has gotten me the closest so far.
