Eric,

I have XFree86 4.1.0 running under MacOS X 10.1.2. Take a look at this
web page: http://www.xfree86.org/4.1.0/Darwin3.html. Note under sec-
tion 3 you can do a binary download (which I recommend) from
ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.1.0/binaries/ and note the accompany-
ing installation document at http://www.xfree86.org/4.1.0/Install.html.
Under section 3 of the installation document it states you must run
Xinstall.sh as root. Therefore, I do not believe admin priviledges are
enough.

If you don't have root activated I can help you get it -- it's
there, you just have to do some backflips to activate it. Check the
Apple Knowledge Base:

TITLE Mac OS X: About the root User and How to Enable It

[I sent the text of this article to Eric separately.]

Cheers,
Joel
