You need to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config (or XF86Config-4, whichever you have) 
in the Device section for the video card there is a line for 'Driver', right 
now it says nv and you need to change it to nvidia. Or are you saying you do 
not know how to use the vi editor? If that's the case, typing 'man vi' 
(without quotes) should help.
