I have no experience with freeBSD. However it looks as if your configuration is messed up. I would rerun either XFree86 -configure or any of the other configuration program you may have... watch-out if you use Xfree86 -configure: it creates an XF86Config.new which must be renamed and placed where it belong (in linux it is /etc/X11/)...
