Hi,

I am trying to install XFree86 in Solaris 8 X86, but I have two questions I
never had while using XFree86 on FreeBSD... :-(

First, I tried to install XFree86 4.2.0 binary, but there is not provided
default. So I tried to compile source code by myself. It doesn't work....
The source code seems be configured to compile under OS/2. Is that correct?

Second, I tried to install XFree86 4.1.0. It does have binaries package
included, but I keep see same error message when I tried to install it. I
use "xinstall.sh" and "xinstall.bin", and they all appear same error. Here
is the error message.

===========================================
Checking which OS you're running...
uname reports 'SunOS' version '5.8', architecture 'i386'.

Warning: can't detect the bindist version
Checking for required files ...

The files:

 Xbin.tgz Xlib.tgz Xman.tgz Xdoc.tgz Xfnts.tgz Xfenc.tgz Xetc.tgz Xxserv.tgz
Xmod.tgz

must be present in the current directory to proceed with the
installation. You should be able to find it at the same place
you picked up the rest of the XFree86 binary distribution.
Please re-run 'sh ./xinstall.bin' to proceed with the installation when
you have them.
=============================================

I do check those files. They are on current directory for sure. I just don't
understand why...

Thank you.

Yu-Fong
