Hi I'm having a problem with the s3 ViRGE MX 3D (chip 86C260) on my Toshiba 490xcdt laptop. I have installed XFree 4.2.0, but am unable to get it to work properly. If I try starting it (using the s3 driver) the laptop locks up.
However, if I start the 3.3.6 XF86_SVGA server it works fine. And here's what's so strange; when I exit XF86_SVGA and start XFree 4.2.0 again it works, with acceleration. It seems as if the svga output puts the card in some new mode. So my question is ; is it possible to set the card into this mode without starting XF86_SVGA? -- Erik Grinaker Freelance UNIX/Linux systems consultant "Perfection is acheived not when there is nothing more to add, but rather when there is nothing more to take away" - Antoine de Saint-Exupry _______________________________________________ Newbie mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
