Hi,
I am a brand new subscriber. I checked last months archive to see if this
problem was addressed but it seems not. Here's where I'm at.......
System is a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop with ATI Rage Mobility 8 meg vid card.
When I installed LM8.2 the vid probe would not accept any display setting
other than Dell laptop display at 1400x1050 and I tried to set the res at
800x600 and 16 bit colour. Well within specs.
It seems that I got the 1400x1050 display but it does not allow any other
setting. Ctrl / Alt / kb / + or / - have no effect.
I tried Dell and generic displays at other resolutions but I keep getting
errors and the system returns to the original 1400x1050.
I am running fine but the display is pretty tiny and I was wondering if
anyone has come across this particular problem. When I was running LM8.1 I
had no problem setting alternate resolutions. But I did a re-install and not
an upgrade so I don't have my old XF86config-4 file to try.
Thoughts?
