Hi! I'm running X on a Toshiba Satellite 1800 @ 1024x768 24bits just fine.
At first, I used the vesa driver (see my XF86Config attached), but since I downloaded the new trident_drv.o, I'm using the trident driver. Now I'm able to use the 16Mb, since vesa didn't recognise it. Now my only problem is running Xine with the -V Xv video mode and the AMR modem. Hope that helps... X.
