I am assuming your card is better supported in X 3.3.6 than in X 4.x.x in such a case 
if you are
using RH 7.x (deleted to much of the thread but I believed you mentioned it somewhere) 
then both
X4.x.x and X 3.3.6 are installed. if /etc/X11/X is not a symlink to 
/usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_SVGA then
make it one...
