Hi David,

Sooner or later we run into some crash. Lucky enough, yours seems to
be S/W and not H/W. To me it sounds like you have got one or more
of your X11R6/lib library files corrupted. That mostly gives input/output
error. Well, recopy them is Ok. provided you have them as a second
issue some where before the crash. My recommendation, however, is to
reinstall these libraries (kind of copy). Honestly, I have to tell that I haven't
worked with RH, but most distributions have tools to do partial installs.
That is, you don't have to reinstall the lot. Just the X-related, or only the
X11R6 lib stuff. I am sure there are experienced RH people out there that
can give you more precise details for just reinstalling the X libs under RH.
