Hi, I'm trying to configure the X server in Debian Woody. My version of
XFree86 is 4.1.0.

I've got a SiS 530 video card. When I use the "sis" driver, I find two
problems.

First, it behaves abnormally. It periodically draws strange rectangles with
(random?) patterns. This is completely annoying and makes it unusable.

And the other problem is when I use 1024x768 resolution (the best my old
monitor can handle). The mouse pointer seems to be vertically displaced. I
mean, I see the pointer is here, but the server thinks it's there. This only
happens in 1024x768. At this resolution, the screen is interlaced. Could this
have something to do?

All this forces me to use the "vesa" driver in 800x600, which works normally,
but is sloooow.

And one final question. The DPMS feature was crashing the server continuously
after 20 minutes of inactivity, so I had to comment the line in
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 in the "Monitor" section:

Option	"DPMS"

Is there a wokaround for this? I mean, my monitor _does_ support DPMS...

Thans a lot,
	Diego Essaya
