Another slightly different way in JOSM without the plugin would be to copy
to your clipboard the URL for the relation (the one for the number itself,
i.e. http://api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/relation/8864). Then inside JOSM
choose File | Open Location. Paste the URL into the screen and click
Download URL.

Which parts did you walk? I've added bits to this particular route myself in
the past. Mainly near Faversham, Whitstable, and Herne Bay.
