The preferred tag is now website=, according to the Wiki. I agree with this concept where possible for the same reason. An argument for entering information into OSM is where there is no web site for data of interest such as parking information. And having a common format makes a good user experience - when selecting a POI on an offline SmartPhone or navigation device, opening hours could be displayed.
