Looks like Alan is complaining not about your message, but about
the reply from "David ``Smith''" (what a lot of quotes!)

But David's reply wrapped fine for me (in mutt). The only thing
unusual I see in David's message is that the whole message was
encoded as base64 instead of being sent directly. Alan, your
headers say you're using Eudora:
X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Version 5.1
Maybe your Eudora isn't handling newlines in base64 mail properly.
