I don't know the answer to your question perhaps somebody else will be able to help. I have a related concern though. The source of those coordinates matter to OSM. If the coordinates came from your GPS, then no problem. If the coordinates were calculated or geocoded by comparing to some copyright map source or reference, then the coordinates can be considered to be a derivative of that other map. While one point might seem to be okay, based on fair use / fair dealing or other legal theories, we still don't allow this sort of derivative work in OSM because, on a project-wide basis, it would be both substantial and systematic. It would be a legal risk for the project. I don't know if this applies to your circumstance so perhaps my concern is misplaced.
