As best as I can determine, yes. I downloaded and installed the XCode,
the Qt SDK, and the Intel-only binary webkit-image.
Figuring out where to put the webkit-mage was a challenge, because I
don't know how to decipher
PATH is set to /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/
bin.
I understand the concept of a path but not what this statement and all
the duplicate names and semicolons means. I did the echo $PATH and got
the string of folders listed above.
There are six "usr" folders on my Mac.
Three of them have single folders with names completely different from
any in the above list, and noting else at all. So I eliminated them
from consideration.
Two contain "x11" folders but neither of these "x11" folders contains
a "bin" folder (I'm looking at the end of the statement above). One of
these also contains a "local" folder but the "local" folder does not
contain a "bin" folder either. One of the remaining two "usr" folders
also contains a "local" folder, but this also does not include a "bin"
folder.
All three of the folders that contained names recognizable from the
PATH contain "bin" folders. Two asked for a password before allowing
me to copy the webkit-image to them, the third did not. I put the the
webkit-image in the one that did not require a password (root folder/
developer/usr/bin).
I looked at step 4 (which seemed to apply only if I compiled the
webkit-image rather than downloading it. I did try the first statement
in Terminal and got a warning that sounded pretty serious for someone
who doesn't really understand what he's getting into, and it wanted my
password. So I steered clear.
As I say, with the webkit-image in the "bin" folder that I selected, I
can get Landsat images, sometimes (and the troubleshooting on the
WMSPlugin link indicates that the Landsat is prone to periods of non-
availability). So I am concluding that I got it in the right folder.
Sorry to be so dense about this, but this is by far the most
complicated computerese I've encountered in my work with OSM.
