I get taken to Hurleston Reservoir too, and I am about 150 miles from it. I agree it's a nice place (and has historic connotations for the English canal system), but I would much prefer Potlatch 2 to open either where I was last time, or at the trace I have just uploaded.

Any advice?

Sometimes change is good... I'm not so sure about this time though.

I seem to have lost a lot of functionality.

I have uploaded a GPX track, and would like to convert it to a way. I
used to be able to do this by clicking on the edit link on the GPS
Traces page. This used to take me to Potlatch, which had the ability
to convert the GPX track to a locked way, whereupon I could edit the
way, and unlock it, tag it, and be on my way...

Now clicking on the edit link takes me to Potlatch 2 centered on
Hurleston Reservoir, Barbridge, Cheshire East, North West England,
England, United Kingdom. There's no sign of my GPX track anywhere,
which is good because the track I made is halfway around the world.

If I center on the area of interest, and then load my GPS trace in
Potlatch 2, the trace loads, but I can not convert the trace to a way.
There's a lot of hand editing involved in manually clicking on each
point along a road winding for 50 km through the wilds of Northern
Alberta.

How can I regain the useful functionality that used to be available
with Potlatch? How can I get Potlatch 2 to quit taking me to the
Hurleston Reservoir?
