Hi,
thanks for first fast replies,
In the meantime I found the (tricky) solution for my problem.
In the meantime I found the (tricky) solution for my problem.
I am working with LINUX OS OpenSuSE12.3 and made the following changes:
export LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (was export LC_CTYPE=)
export LC_ALL= (was export LC_ALL=C from other project)
After a lot of additional downloads I encounter another SVN problem, not to be discussed here.
Best greetings,
CB

Hello OSM Newbies,
I am working on a task to replace the googlemap applications on my website by OSM solutions. As much of the related stuff is collected in the svn.openstreetmap.org area and having some professional experience with SVN, I decided to download the OSM SVN repository. This works quite well, until the following error message:
svn: E000022: Can't convert string from 'UTF-8' to native encoding:
svn: E000022: /home/opt/osm_svn/misc/pr_material/slideshow/2012-02-09_194844_scrot_Screenshot_Freiberg_Zentrum_wei?\195?\159er_Hintergrund_bearb.png

Very probably the reason is that the document to be downloaded has german characters (ß....) in its name. Despite some extensive googling up till now I could not solve the problem. I strongly hope that some of you can give me some hints how to proceed. Best greetings,
CB
