OH, sorry. That's wierd. I've never seen that. I guess it could mean that the question mark was actually in the command line.

What does it mean when there's a question mark after process in a ps ax readout?
Example:


~# ps ax | grep "nmbd"
 264 ?        S      0:00 nmbd -a?
3111 pts/0    S      0:00 grep nmbd
