I am not the one who installed RH on my computer. how can I check to see which hd (hdc, hdb) it is on?

You'll need to put the cd in before you boot the computer.  Just make
sure to choose /dev/hdb (or /dev/hdc) as the drive to install on.  If
you do that you shouldn't have any problems.
