[newbies] installing RH9

I currently have Windows XP on my main HD and RH8 on my smaller second HD.  
When I start my computer I have a choice to either go to Windows or the Grub 
loader.  That takes me to the Grub loader where once again I have to choose 
between RH or XP (choosing Windows XP will actually take me to System 
Recovery since it cant find XP on the second HD).  Of course choosing RH 
will take me to Linux from there.
My question is about installing RH9 over my current RH8.  I have RH9 on CD.  
When do I insert my CD for installation?  if I put it in when i am first 
starting my computer wont it try to write over XP on my first HD?  do I do 
it after I have decided to go to the Grub Loader?  I am sure somebody has 
had this kind of set up of the 2 OSs on seperate HD.  I hope this all makes 
sense. Thanks!!!!!!
