What are some ways I can troubleshoot my modem? I have installed a generic HSF (softmodem) driver from www.linuxant.com/drivers to match my chipset Intel MC97 Controller (ICH) PCI ID 8086:2486. Before installing the driver, KPPP could not my winmodem, but afterward KPPP successfully detected my modem. Everything appears to work now, but when dialing my ISP, my modem sounds like it is initiating the call correctly, but it never successful connects. Is there some diagnostic I can run to troubleshoot my modem? Is there a phone number that I can dial to test my modem? I'm thinking that my modem works but I my KPPP settings may be wrong for what my ISP requires. By way, my ISP is Bigzoo.net and they claim that they are Linux compatible; I just need to create a simple PPP connection. Thanks!
