Okay...

There was a thread that I started 4/29/2003 that had to do with monitor
problems.

The reason I switched to XFree86 3.x (back in April) was because a HP
monitor that I was trying to use (I remember now) (the HP monitor would shut
off with XFree 86 4.x, it only ran with versions 3.x).

So, I've scrapped that monitor (well, I changed back to my old monitor now),
but I can't get 1024x768 for the resolution. I've tried going through
Xf86config three or four times... I can even change the resolution to what I
want it to be in the Mandrake Control Center thingy... but when X restarts
it goes back to 800x600. I even tried changing the XFree86-4 config file in
/etc/X11 by hand.

(All of this just proves how little I know about configuring stuff in
linux)...

I'm thinking about getting rid of Mandrake and installing RH tomorrow...
Apt get sounds a little easier to use than urpm anyway... Re-installing
would probably solve my monitor problems (seeing how I can't solve it right
now)...

btw, after getting XFree 4.x to work (albeit at 800x600) I tried running
glquake. It works... except it is WAY to slow. At least it works.

Hmmm... well, I will see if I can figure this quakeforge thing out.

Thanks
