I'm working on figuring out a host of problems with my computer, and
have hit a lot of brick walls. So, here's a couple of the ones i just
can't figure out, along with any information that might help.. Thank
you so much for all of your help both with this problem and all the
other problems I've had!
1) When I plug into the internet, I have to restart to get it to work,
then, if I unplug without rebooting, my computer goes into a hang. I
heard once that ifconfig up and ifconfig down are the ways to prevent
this problem, but when I use that, I just get the following:
$ ifconfig up
bash: ifconfig: command not found
Here's my path, in case that might be the problem:
$ echo $PATH
/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:
/tmp/mysqlcc-0.8.10-linux-glibc23/:/tmp/todo-manager-0.70.2:
/home/ErinS/bin:/usr/java/j2re1.4.1_01/bin/:
/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/bin/:/usr/games/:/usr/bin:.:/home/ErinS/bin:.
:/tmp/mysqlcc-0.8.10-linux-glibc23/:/tmp/todo-manager-0.70.2:
/home/ErinS/bin:/usr/java/j2re1.4.1_01/bin/:
/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/bin/:/usr/games/:/usr/bin:.
I'm really puzzled, and rather annoyed by this problem, so I'd greatly
appreciate a resolution!
I'll answer the easy one :-) /sbin/ifconfig
I've found that the (s)locate command is one of my best friends.
