so you are trying to create the actual symbolic link on the vfat partition.. No, classic unix symlinks are not supported on a vfat partition. What I was saying was that you can create a symlink on a unix file system (ext2,ext3,ufs,ffs,reiser,etc) that points to a file or dir on a mounted vfs partition.
