Tell me about it. My laptop (hp ze1115) temperature would steadily increase up to 90 degrees _celsius_ before I got power management working. Now it stays around 40 most of the time, and usually won't go above 60. > Unfortunately, I do not know how to 1) pick which module to use (I am > running a athlon xp-m, so I assume it is one of the powernows) and 2) load > the module after I figure out which one to use. 1. Athlon is k7 (I believe). So you'll want powernow-k7.o. 2. Become root and then run modprobe powernow-k7. > I think I can follow other faqs and things I have found after this point. > It seems that most of them assume those two items are common knowledge or > something. Yeah, it's kind of strange isn't it? Every time you go to learn something new, it's the obvious things that are never explained because everyone assumes that everyone else already knows them. Phillip Hellewell P.S. There is a program called athcool that you might want to look at as well. It sets a flag in your system that enables a powersaving mode that keeps your computer cooler. On my laptop it has helped a LOT. -- Phillip Hellewell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
