Maybe yes. You say you have a shell account on this server (at a hosting company presumably) . Does mail actually come into that shell account? If you put a .forward file in your home directory will your mail go where the .forward file tells it to? If the answer to these questions is yes then you can use procmail and smartlist. Otherwise you're probably stuck. Then again, your ISP (or host) might provide mailing list services. You should probably ask them unless this is a personal project just to learn how to set up a mailing list.
