Take a look at Dada Mail: http://mojo.skazat.com/ It is written in perl and should work fine in your home directory. It can be setup as an interactive mailing list, or as an announce-only newsletter with template support that will allow you to make your newsletters look like your web site.

(I have a couple of questions). Can mailing list software be installed in my home directory? (You see, my problem is that I am thinking about starting a mailing list, but I only have access to my home directory on this particular box). I'm comfortable installing other things in my home directory (what I mean by "comfortable" is that I have done it before). Currently I have my own version of python sitting in my home directory. That is my main question, maybe more will follow.
