YUGOSLAV MINISTER ENVOY TO RUSSIA: INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY HAS NO CLEAR STRATEGY FOR BALKAN DEVELOPMENT

The international community has no clear strategy for the Balkan development, said Minister Envoy to Russia of the FRY Jelica Kurjak at a Moscow press conference Tuesday.
According to Kurjak, the international community, which has assumed the role of a mediator, is playing an important part in today's developments in the Balkans. However, the world has no clear idea of where the Balkans should go.
"It looks like the international community is testing new strategies following the Cold War," said Kurjak. The results are, in her words, the Kosovo war, the present developments in Macedonia, and probably something else to follow.
At the same time, the Yugoslav Minister Envoy indicated that without the global community's involvement, the Balkan peoples will not be able to settle their external and internal problems, including ethnic, political, and economic ones.
Speaking about problems of Yugoslavia's development, Kurjak said that the country's industry and its energy sector have been brought to a virtual halt by the warfare. The lack of economic resources determines in no small measure Yugoslavia's domestic and foreign policy, he said.
