Several days ago, Clark was on the Tim Russert Show and incredibly, the photo was shown.  I only got in on the tail end of the interview, but Russert asked Clark to explain himself regarding the photo of Clark and Mladic exchanging hats.  Clark came up with the following:  That when he went to see Mladic, Mladic had not yet been declared a war criminal. That he felt it was important to hear both sides of the conflict and that it was a "mistake" to have taken the gift, i.e., the hat.  If Mladic had not yet been declared a war criminal, then why would he have called the exchange of hats a "mistake?"

The guy speaks out of both sides of his mouth.
