Observation of day of remembrance of victims of genocide in World War II
Marking the 60th anniversary of the victory in World War II, the day of
remembrance of victims of genocide in war conflicts from 1941 to 1945 will
be observed on April 22 in Belgrade.
In the memory of victims of genocide, Serbian Patriarch Pavle will hold a
service in the Belgrade Cathedral Church at 9 am, and Serbian Minister of
Justice Zoran Stojkovic will lay a wreath on behalf of the Serbian
government at the Staro Sajmiste war prisoners camp at 11 am, with full
state and military honours.
On the same occasion, at 1 pm at the National Theatre, the Minister of
Justice will open a conference called "Truth about Genocide - the Condition
for Peace and Stability", which lasts until April 24 and includes several
exhibitions in the lobby of the National Theatre.
The organisers of the event are the Fund for Genocide Research and the
Association of the Living War Prisoners from the territory of the so-called
Independent Croatian State, with the assistance of the Serbian Ministry of
