Protest of Serbs’ employed in judiciary in Kosovska Mitrovica

27 February 2009. 13:03

The employees in Serb judiciary bodies in northern Kosovska Mitrovica have
protested in front of the District Court building, due to the announcement that
as of March 1 the competencies of UNMIK will pass on EULEX, i.e. on the Kosmet
institutions. The protesters have handed a letter to Regional EULEX Coordinator
in Mitrovica Michael Charis, which reads that the employees of the Serb
judiciary are dissatisfied with the development of situation in that field. We
expect UNMIK to continue with the started negotiations relating to the
functioning of the court and to commence the implementation of the six-item
plan, while we expect EULEX to return to the limitations of its mandate, as
defined in the article 50 of the Presidential Report of the UN Security
Council, said judge Nikola Kabasic. He has underlined that the Serb workers in
the judiciary know that EULEX judges and prosecutors are using the stamps of
the so-called Republic of Kosovo, and he added it is
 unacceptable for the Kosmet Serbs.
