*A new major version!*

On 28th of March, the OpenSIPS 2.4 beta was released. This is the first release of the 2.4 major version, code name "The Cluster Maker" - this version is planed to be an LTS version and probably the last one in the 2.x family.

See 2.4 overview <http://www.opensips.org/About/Version-Overview-2-4-0>
The stable release for 2.4 is planned for 30th of April, just before the OpenSIPS Summit <http://www.opensips.org/events/Summit-2018Amsterdam/> in Amsterdam.

*Clustering philosophy
*

The OpenSIPS 2.4 version is built around the *clustering* concept - today’s VoIP world is getting more and more dynamic, services are moving into Clouds and more and more flexibility is needed for the application to fully exploit such environments. But let’s pin point the main reasons for going for a clustered approach:

 * scaling up with the processing/traffic load
 * geographical distribution
 * redundancy and High-Availability

Several blog posts are introducing and describing the clustering support into several OpenSIPS capabilities:

 * Clustering ongoing calls
