It seems that there are several processes sending data to the printer at
the same time and the first process didn't lock the device (to make
following processes waiting). This seems to be a kernel/DevFS bug. It
did not happen with 8.1.
To get the jobs printed correctly one after the other, either send only
the next job when the current has finished, switch from parallel to USB
(or vice versa, tell me which connection type works and which not), or
take at least care that only one process accesses the printer (set up
only one queue for it and print only on this queue, not directly to the
device with GIMP; do not use PDQ as the printing system).
The problem can be easily caused when one uses direct "cat"ting to the
device as printing command in the GIMP.
So, to get the stuff safely printed for your trip, I recommend to send
the jobs one after the other, the next one when the current has completed.
