Hi everybody, #1 - City Council meetings this Tuesday evening @ 351 W. Center St.: Study Meeting @ 5:30pm Quarterly Report from Downtown Alliance (http://www.provodowntown.com/) Discussion on proposed appropriation for Sherwood Hills park... (852-6121) Discussion on proposed appropriation for reconciliation of Capital Improvement Budget Discussion on interlocal agreement regarding "store mod. management" (852-6121) Discussion on amendment to cafeteria benefits plan for Provo City employees. Discussion on proposed Family Definition & related Dwelling & Occupancy Amendments. Discussion on printing of the 2006 Provo City Code (laws). Requests For Information Regular Council Meeting @ 7:00pm RDA meeting (Redevelopment Agency) -- see attached agenda. Public Hearing to consider approving $262,056 of Community Development Block Grant Funds for Social Service Program funding. Public Hearing to consider approving appropriating $12,000 in the Water Fund. Public hearing to consider a resolution appropriating $210,000 in the Vehicle Management Fund for an equipment lease. Public hearing to consider a resolution reconciling the Sick Leave Buyout account within the various departments of the General Fund. Public hearing to consider a resolution appropriating $15,349.98 in the Police Department of the General Fund for operational expenses Public hearing to consider a resolution appropriating $79,898 in the Council, Police, and Information Systems Departments of the General Fund for operational expenses Public hearing to consider a resolution appropriating $700,000 in the Insurance Fund for claims expenses Public hearing to consider a resolution transferring $670,754.11 between projects in the B&C Road Fund. Public Hearing to consider a resolution transferring $980,000 from the Electric Utility Reserve fund to pay debt on the iProvo bond. Public Hearing to consider changing the name of Little Rock Canyon Neighborhood to the North Timpview Neighborhood. Public Hearing to consider an ordinance amending Section 14.38.085 (University Avenue Riverbottoms Design Review Corridor and SSC Specialty Support Commercial Sign Standards) to permit signs to encroach into the public right-of-way (see attachment). Public Hearing to consider an ordinance amending Chapter 14.17 (Public Facilities Zone) to add development standards for property located in the PF zone. Public Hearing to consider increasing Councilmembers salaries. #2 - Planning Commission Meeting this Wednesday, March 8th @ 6:00pm @ 351 W. Center St. Various approvals and reviews of projects and rezoning requests and changing at least one of the zoning laws. If you have questions on any of the items above, you can reply and I'll tell you whatever I know.  However I also recommend calling the Council office at 852-6161 to get more details.  They can email you the staff reports for each item. The same is true for the Planning Commission -- 852-6412. B. I highlighted or bolded the items above that I think would be of the most interest to the most members.  #6 - on the Study Meeting looks interesting since that's generated a lot of controversy in the past.  Let's see if they'll go for more freedom or for more micro-managing. #10 - on the Regular Council Meeting looks interesting too.  In case you missed it there was a great editorial on iProvo in Sunday's Deseret News -- http://provocitizens.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13 #14 - Why is hardly anyone speaking out about how it's a conflict of interest for our city council members to be voting themselves a raise?!  I think they should definitely vote for the next set of council members to get a raise (they won't be sworn in till 2009).  Council Chair George Stewart and his friends should have thought about the council pay before they decided to run -- or they should have encouraged the 2005 council to vote for a raise to take effect for the next set (which now includes him.)  I don't have a problem with a raise -- just with those that are elected voting for themselves when it's a clear conflict of interest.  I expect better leadership from our elected Provo city officials.
