Hi everybody, We hope that you had a beautiful and peaceful Easter Sunday and season. Please make sure to read ALL 3 items below. You may want to PRINT this. #1 - Tuesday night, April 18th -- regular city council meetings: * Council Study Meeting @ 6:00pm. (no public hearings during study meetings) These two items on the agenda look interesting: -- Discussion on sham property transactions (10 min) -- Discussion on the proposed Business Licensing for Mobile Home Rentals * Regular Council Meeting @ 7:00pm As always there's time for Questions for the Council and Mayor at the beginning. ===> Make sure to scan through the complete Agenda. You can find a link to it at the top of our homepage --> http://provocitizens.net/ #2 - Discussion forums are open again. Many of you were aware that we used to have a discussion forum well over a year ago that I had to close due to lack of time. :( Well, I opened it again last month and have not announced it yet. Check it out at http://provocitizens.net/forums/ Here's one of the recent postings with a link to a hot document from the council staff: http://provocitizens.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19 Yes, you guessed correctly, it's the ongoing debate over how to define "Family" for purposes of zoning segregation. #3 - ProvoCitizens.net was officially founded in December 2002. We haven't asked for donations since 2003 because we haven't needed to. The funds that we raised back then were sufficient to fund the flyers and the website through this year. :) In January we used the remaining funds to pay for the hosting for the website. So, it's time to raise funds again. We've decided to officially register as a 501(c)3 educational non-profit which means that we can't endorse candidates in the future like we have in the past. But that's ok because their voting records are public and we can educate the public on their voting records and their words-on-the-record. We need to raise $285 to file the paperwork as a non-profit educational foundation through http://nhf.org. If you'ld like to donate, please write a check out to me (can't write a check to ProvoCitizens.net until after we've officially registered.) Roger Brown. I belive that money raised towards filing as non-profit is tax-deductible but I'll check with the legal team to make sure. Then after we're official, then I already know of course that all donations are tax-deductible. :) One of the reasons that we want to be official is so that we can get the word out more effectively to EVERYBODY in Provo through more regular door fliers and also have the funds to get out the word about an Initiative that is being put together by a coalition of concerned grassroots groups (we're only 1 of them) and people -- it WILL be on the ballot this coming November, we guarantee it! :) It's time for the people of Provo to speak out for justice and equality and not have some of our brothers and sisters be technically treated as second-class citizens due to misguided good intentions from a minority of otherwise respectable citizens. We'll announce it very shortly -- many of you are already in the know about what it is! I'll give you a hint -- it has to do with parking. So far for fundraising, we have $10 out of $285 for the state and federal filing fees. Please call or reply via email if you have any questions. And as always, please forward this email to anybody and everybody! Most Sincerely, Roger Brown Chairman, ProvoCitizens.Net 356-1032 P.S.
