____________________________________ EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT... Todays News & Views EXTRA is my movie review of Morgan Spurlocks anti-Ronald McDonald muck-umentary. If you didnt happen to catch the films theatrical release this weekend...relax, you didnt miss a thing. Unless you like biased, left-wing propaganda. Read all about it at: http://www.chuckmuth.com/newsandviews/nv.cfm _____________________________________ WHY THEIR MASCOT IS THE JACKASS This (Abu Ghraib prison incident) is the biggest coverup of all administrations. I would go so far as to ask for the impeachment of the commander-in-chief. - Rep. Dianne Watson, California Democrat SURVEY SAYS! Will Defense Secretary Don Rumsfeld survive the gathering army of opposition calling for his head over the Abu Ghraib prison incident? * Yes * No * Im a Kerry Democrat...Yes AND No Cast your vote by clicking the Survey Says! tab at www.citizenoutreach.com AT LEAST ONE DEMOCRAT GETS IT I cannot help but say ... that those who were responsible for killing 3,000 Americans on September 11th, 2001, never apologized. Those who have killed hundreds of Americans in uniform in Iraq, working to liberate Iraq and protect our security, have never apologized. And those who murdered and burned and humiliated four Americans in Fallujah a while ago, never (gave) an apology (to) anybody. - Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-Ct.) on the absence of apologies from Arab leaders when Muslims commit far greater atrocities against Americans and our allies WERE NO SAINTS Demanding that troops, who are subject on a daily basis to roadside bombs, suicide attacks, ambushes and rocket-propelled grenades, should respond without any cruel or unprofessional incidents would be a demand for sainthood. - Columnist Barbara Amiel, Daily Telegraph of London, 5/3/04 SHOCKING REVELATION: BAD GUYS ARE IN PRISON! I am now officially sick-and-tired of the self-serving and largely uninformed hand-wringing about the goings on at Abu Ghraib prison outside of Baghdad. As someone who has actually been on the grounds of Abu Ghraib prison, let me explain a few things. First of all, there is no excuse for what a few soldiers did; but there is also no reason to make this into the moral equivalent of the Black Plague. It should be pointed out that the prisoners at Abu Ghraib are not Boy Scouts rounded up for jaywalking. These are bad guys who either blew up or shot a coalition member; or were caught assembling an explosive device; or were caught in a place where the makings of explosive devices were found; or were caught with a cache of weapons. See the pattern here? In short they were trying to kill me and others like me. And if they succeeded in doing that, they were going to come over here and try to kill you. Ugly thought? You bet. But that is the kind of prisoner being held in the terrorist section at Abu Ghraib. - Rich Galen, Mullings, 5/9/04 (NOTE: Welcome back, Rich! Were all very happy for your safe return from duty in Iraq.) GENERAL DISASTER The officer in charge of the (Abu Ghraib prison) facility at the time the apparent abuses took place was Reserve Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski, who has now gone on national television to defend herself. Speaking on ABC's Good Morning America, Gen. Karpinski says that she did not know anything about it. And had I known anything about it I certainly would have reacted very quickly. But that's the point. She didn't know what was going on, and she should have. - Columnist Linda Chavez GENERAL DISGRACE We lost the (Vietnam) war at home, and at home John Kerry was the field general." - Robert Elder of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth SHOO-IN DELUSIONS The conventional wisdom in Washington right now is that John Kerry is such an awful candidate that he is doomed in the fall. . . . I'm not so sure. My instinct is that this election will not, in fact, be close. Either Mr. Bush will convince people that he is winning the war on terror and turning the economy around and win handsomely, or he won't, and Mr. Kerry will win big. . . . It's a long, long way to go, and I'm predicting nothing (except a massive gay-baiting campaign by Karl Rove in the summer). But I do think that Republicans who think they're a shoo-in are deluding themselves. - Andrew Sullivans The Weekly Dish, 5/7/04 DONT CALL IT CENSORSHIP Disapprove, if you like, of the Disney companys decision to forbid a subsidiary to distribute the latest concoction of left-wing zealot Michael Moore. But dont call it censorship, which is what the government does when it tells private parties they cannot say something publicly. - Columnist Jay Ambrose THE CANNON TWO-STEP Congressman Chris Cannon of Utah is still telling Utah constituents that his AgJOBS bill is not an amnesty for illegal aliens. . . . Congressman Cannon and his paid lobbyist friends in Washington are telling people in Utah that the bill isn't an amnesty because it only gives permanent legal status to temporary legal workers; illegal aliens, they point out, can only get temporary legal status. See how that works? When the glaring subterfuge was pointed out to a worker during a phone call yesterday to Cannon's Provo office, the worker responded that it was just semantics. We call it just lying. It's like a guy leaving Salt Lake City for Las Vegas, and his wife stops him at the door saying, You're not going to Las Vegas, are you? And he says, No, I'm going to Provo, thinking to himself, with his fingers crossed behind his back, and from there I'm going to Las Vegas. The man might pretend he's technically correct, but he's telling a lie, of course, the kind that even schoolchildren laugh at. - ProjectUSA, 5/5/04 HERE WE GO AGAIN A Baltimore-area high school known for its environmental activism is the latest re-education camp standing in the way of a group of kids attempting to establish a Teenage Republican Club on campus. Five students at Sparrows Point High School...say school administrators and teachers have intentionally delayed their efforts to organize a TARS chapter, reported the Washington Times yesterday (http://washingtontimes.com/metro/20040508-115726-5851r.htm). Club President Donald Caldwell said, The point of the club is to get younger kids involved so they dont have to follow in their parents footsteps and be liberals. The school principal, Robert SantaCroce, had refused to allow the club to form until pressured recently by a complaint to the district superintendent by Caldwells father and state Republican officials. However, after SantaCroce relented, lo and behold, the teacher who had agreed to serve as the clubs required faculty adviser suddenly changed his mind and withdrew. What do you want to bet this teacher was made a not-so-subtle offer he couldnt refuse? If no teacher will step forward to serve as the faculty adviser for this group, we think its only fitting that Mr. SantaCroce himself fill that role until another teacher can be recruited. Why should these kids get jerked around just because of their politically incorrect views? Is the lesson our government schools want to impart on todays youth think like us or else? BRUSHFIRE ALERT: Mr. SantaCroce can be reached at (410) 887-7517 or via email at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Ask him what hes doing to make sure theres no thought discrimination at Sparrows Point High School. And ask him to PERSONALLY recruit a faculty adviser for these budding political activists. Ill just bet he can be awfully persuasive if he wants to be. ROAD TRIP! Nathan Tabors campaign says I dont know what Im talking about when it comes to Lil Nates business genius, so they dared me to come down to NC-5 for an expense paid fact-finding mission, assuming Id never agree to make such a trip. I offer you an opportunity to see for yourself, taunts a Tabor staffer, but you would rather hide in Maryland. Hide? Me? No way, Jose. Im there, dude! What times the press conference? Alas, like Tabors candidacy itself, the offer was far less than met the eye. Upon further e-discussion, I was informed I was being offered a free room at a Motel 6 or something if Id come take the company tour...period. No compensation for my time, travel expenses, meals, etc. Nada. Zip. Zero. Not even a soy-burger. What a surprise, huh? This kid really is all hat and no cattle. Cheap little SOB, too. PERVERT ALERT One of our loyal News & Views readers sent us a link to a rather interesting - and disturbing - website this week. If you type in a zip code from most states, a listing of all known sex offenders residing in that zip code will pop up on your screen, complete with address and details of the offense. Found two of em on my own street!
