CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR

The CA state legislature is trying to make it a crime if you smoke in a car with
kids. You know, I need to find someone to propose a law that would make it a crime if
you don't cover your face when you sneeze or cough. That makes more sense. I mean, if
someone has TB, that's how it is passed. So shouldn't there be a fine? Could you just
see the health police in kindergarten classes citing 5-year-olds?

SURVEY SAYS!

Three California high school teachers have been suspended for allowing students in
their classroom to view the execution video of American Nick Berg. One 14-year-old
remarked to the San Diego Tribune, You can watch things about the Holocaust. Why
cant you watch this? Should high school teachers be prohibited from showing the
Nick Berg beheading in their classrooms?

WHY GEPHARDT WONT BE JFKS VP

...(Dick) Gephardt served in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam era, 1965-71
to be exact. There's no reason to doubt that he served honorably, but then so did
President Bush, and Kerry and others in his party have been implying that Air National
Guard service is tantamount to dodging the draft (or even desertion, in the case of a
Wesley Clark supporter). Given this, they can't very well put an Air National Guard
veteran on the ticket, can they?

KISS OF DEATH

In an interview on Melbourne's 3AW radio, Gene Simmons used his elongated tongue to
speak his mind on Muslim extremists. The Kiss bass player said Muslim women have to
walk behind their men and are not allowed to be educated or own homes. . . . This is
a vile culture, the Israeli-born rocker said. And if you think for a second that
it's willing to just live in the sands of God's armpit, you've got another thing
coming. They want to come and live right where you live, and they think that you're
evil. Simmons also asserted that the United Nations' approach did not work and the
West had to speak softly and carry a big stick.

THE REVIEWS ARE IN!

The big hit at the Cannes Film Festival? No surprise here, writes talk show host
Neal Boortz. It's Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, an anti-Bush screed from the
hyper-liberal who developed a compilation of lies and half-truths called Bowling for
Columbine that thrilled the Hollywood crowd mightily. Drudge was reporting yesterday
that Moore's hit-piece drew the longest standing ovation in the history of the film
festival.

This is supposed to be news? Hey, folks. Cannes, in case you didn't know, is in
France! And the people who are swarming around that place, especially in the
showings, are the Hollywood elite! Of COURSE they're going to jump to their feet and
applaud anything that denigrates Bush, America, or our efforts to make the world safe
from Islamofascist terrorism. If you're surprised that Michael Moore received a
standing ovation from THAT crowd, you need to increase your dosages.

A DYING BREED

Today, at the national level, 212 Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives,
42 Republican senators and one Republican president have signed the Taxpayer
Protection Pledge against any tax increase. No Republican in Congress has voted for a
tax hike since 1990. And, in the past three years, a Republican House, Senate and
president have cut taxes three times. . . . The future of the Republican Party belongs
to those who vote for lower taxes. Republican tax hikers are a dying breed.

- Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, USA Today, 5/17/04

SMOKE-EATERS FOR BUSH

Citzens United, a U.S. political group Monday launched a Web-based ad campaign
featuring firefighters praising President George W. Bush's war on terror. . . . Every
firefighter in the nation personally felt the tragedy on (Sept. 11) and President Bush
has stood by first-responders' sides first by fighting for record-level funding and
secondly promising to defeat the terrorists responsible, said David Bossie, the
president of the conservative grassroots group and a 15-year volunteer firefighter.
The ad can be seen by going to the group's Web site at citizensunited.org.

IN THE INTEREST OF FULL DISCLOSURE

The Capital Research Center has charged that the New York Times was "grossly derelict
in not disclosing -- or even bothering to investigate -- the well-known activities" of
supposedly nonpolitical people quoted in a front-page story on the new Medicare
discount card. The article by John Leland, entitled "73 Options for Medicare Plan Fuel
Chaos, Not Prescriptions," quotes two seniors, Mildred Fruhling and Sidney Bild, as
strident critics of the card. Both are presented as typical seniors. But both seniors
have well-known histories of political activism. For example, they both appeared in a
2004 anti-Medicare reform video produced by the liberal partisan group Families USA.
As CRC notes, a simple google search would have uncovered the pairs obvious bias.

OUTRAGEOUS OUTRAGE

Theres been a lot of outrageous rhetoric coming from a number of so-called religious
leaders since Mondays start of legal gay marriages in Massachusetts, but this one
takes the cake: Like mile markers in time, certain calendar dates stand in memory as
not only historic, but momentous, writes R. Albert Mohler Jr. for the Baptist Press
on Monday. Dates like Dec. 7, 1941, and Sept. 11, 2001, represent far more than mere
days on a calendar. Now, May 17, 2004, must be added to that list.

And you wonder why so many people dont take people like Mohler seriously on this
issue? Comparing gay marriage to the Japanese sneak attack at Pearl Harbor and the
terrorist sneak attack against the World Trade Center/Pentagon in which thousands
died? Whats next? Blaming gays for the September 11 attacks in the first place?

Oh. Thats right. Never mind.
