EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT...

Known simply as The Speech, Ronald Reagans 1964 national rendezvous with destiny
address on behalf of GOP presidential candidate Barry Goldwater is featured today on
our News & Views EXTRA page at: http://www.chuckmuth.com/newsandviews/nv.cfm

NOT BAD...NOT BAD AT ALL

(A)s I walk off into the city streets, a final word to the men and women of the
Reagan revolution, the men and women across America who for 8 years did the work that
brought America back. My friends: We did it. We weren't just marking time. We made a
difference. We made the ('shining city upon a hill) stronger, we made the city freer,
and we left her in good hands. All in all, not bad, not bad at all. And so, goodbye,
God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.

- President Reagans farewell address, January 1989

ONE OF A KIND

Ronald Reagan is the last and onlypresidential candidate I have voted FOR. All the
others that got my votehas beenbecause they were AGAINST someone far worse!

LOYAL DEMOCRATS CELEBRATE GIPPERS PASSING

I've waited for this day for 24 long years, now i'm celebrating. I don't care what
killed him, Alzheimer's or the black plague, I'm glad he's dead and I don't care how
many times I'm scolded or chastised for it. the day he took office was the most
depressing day of my life, and i swore, that on the day he died, I'd drink a toast of
celebration and figuratively piss on his grave and have said so to several Gingrich
sucking Reagan worshipping dickheads. F--k Ronald Reagan, and i hope in some small
way my f--k you counteracts all the bullsh-t we are going to be hammered with for a
f--king month after the fall of this 'greeeeeaaaaaat human being'. F--k you Ronnie,
here's to ya pal. see ya in hell.

REAGANS PRESCRIPTION

Realize that the doctors fight against socialized medicine is your fight. You cant
socialize the doctors without socializing the patients.

- Ronald Reagan

ASSAULT ON THE FREE MARKET

While it is easy and popular for some politicians and self-appointed consumer
advocates to wail about the profits made by drug companies, it is these profits that
underwrite research that will deliver the innovative drugs of the future. It is not a
coincidence that almost all new drugs come from the United States and not nations with
socialized medical care and price-controlled drug markets. Policies that undermine the
profits of U.S. pharmaceutical companies logically eat up investment funds. The
long-term affect of this can only be detrimental to public health.

Perhaps the most ridiculous argument in favor of reimportation is the claim that it
is consistent with promoting a free market. Canada, for example, essentially
blackmails U.S. corporations into selling products at low cost by threatening to
accept foreign knockoffs if they don't. American firms are forced to acquiesce to
defend their patents. Allowing these drugs which foreign governments keep
artificially underpriced through price controls and by threatening U.S. intellectual
property is the antithesis of the free market.

Nobel Prize-winning free-market economist Milton Friedman is opposed to
reimportation. He explains that the purpose of the patent was to enable the patent
owner to make enough money to pay for the cost of producing the drug. His 1962 book,
Capitalism and Freedom, is scripture to those who believe markets are superior to
central control of the economy. Conservatives who support reimportation are bucking
both the free market and its prophet.

- Washington Times editorial, 6/5/04

UM, WELL TAKE THE COWBOY WITHOUT THE MEDALS

(I)f you were worrying about the defense of the United States of America, who would
you rather have in the White House: a guy who like so many people who send our
children to war never served a day in his life overseas, or somebody who has been to
war with three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star.

- Howling Howard Dean on the stump for John Kerry, 6/4/04

A REAL (MIS)LEADER

He misled the business community. He misled people in the General Assembly. And
now, what have we found out? . . . (T)heres a $300 million surplus. What a
deception. What deceit.

- Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore (R) on Virginia Gov. Mark Warners (D) successful
efforts to pass a huge new tax hike on Virginians earlier this year, 6/5/04

IM THE NEANDERTHAL?

Chuckyour argument on behalf of smoker liberation is a stupid remnant of the stone
age. It is also why your argument against Ladies Night is stupid. No business owner
who purveys goods and services to the general public has the right to give an
undeserveddiscount to one person without making it available to another person.

...However, I do not think our social laws should go backwards.. . . Black teenagers
should be discouraged from dating and mating with white teenagers (and vice versa)
because the resulting half-breed children dumb down the gene pool. Even someone with
a Neanderthal brain like yours should be able to grasp the common sense of those
points.

MEDIA SHRUGS

Apparently, national media outletsare unimpressed with LP (presidential) nominee
Michael Badnerik's credentials. The new LP nominee is the first Libertarian to ever
run for president who does not have a college degree. Nor, did he serve in the
military. Further, he has never held elective office. The self-proclaimed
Constitutional Scholar'sonly claim to fame was a past run as a Libertarianfor
state house in Texas where he received less than 2%. No nationalnews wires have
coveredBadnerik since his nomination.
