An extremely interesting trend is taking hold in my part of the world
-- "friending for office" and then "naturally" using Facebook to
fundamentally engage constituents in new ways.

(The ones that directly "friend" the most voters are winning too ...
not b.s. Facebook Pages, but actual personal profile friending with
voters/constituents. And this is not about MP-wannabes :-) messaging
"look at me, I am witty" on Twitter to the media and political class.
Facebook is where everyday constituents are being engaged.)

So while in Minneapolis, this "30 something" wave of new local elected
officials is taking hold, what about local authorities in the UK?
Anything happening?

Who is on your list of Facebook Native elected officials in the UK?
(Or other countries for that matter.)

On that note, I've been chatting with folks about the potential of
getting some of these wired elected officials *together* in-person in
late October when I will be in the UK.

Let me know if this idea interests you or if your company/org/gov
might like to help sponsor such an event.

Cheers,
