It settled down ... we moved buildings ... everything worked fine. then all hell broke loose our NIS+ decided not to work properly and we had to reboot the 'temporary' server (5.11 snv_64a) and now the locking has gone totally to pot.
even our trusty old Solaris 8 boxes have great trouble opening Firefox/Thunderbird/OpenOffice2 ... beforehand it used to be that they just took 'forever' to open (20-30 mins), now they don't open at all, (or seem to take 2 to 3 days ... according to one of our engineers who left his computer on his desk alone and openoffice opened on his screen a couple of days after he remembers touching it). if you can tell me what to type i'll be happy to type it.
