How did you make the ZFS pool? raidz or Mirrored paired sets? You might be experiencing the same issue that I have with the Marvell SATA controller. Try running several 'iozone' tests locally. I can repeatedly lock NFS with 'iozone' from a client. Only recovery is to reboot the NFS server. My ZFS pool is raidz.
