Success. The "session.path" needed to be changed in "/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini". Tabs are now working. Thanks for the help and guidance.

You have a problem with your session handling, or you have mixed up
different versions of backend/frontend.
Make sure session handling is working with your php version, and reinstall
nfsen. Do not mix different versions from
backend or frontend.
These two are the only option
