I have also checked that the cartesian set returned by SQLServer (in the Microsoft GUI) and that returned by SQLite (in SQLiteSpy) are the same size (about 30k rows for the SQL query I looked at) and appear to be identical as far as I can tell.
The timings above suggest that there is some problem with executing the query on the database but that there is a massive problem in processing the data once it has been received into NHibernate.
