Hi Angela, I'm sure the rest of the group here will think this is blasphemy but I bought my NH450 as my entry back into motorcycling after a zillion years and it is giving me a better idea of what I want in a bike. I've been a full time Vespa GT200L commuter the past 4 years, just got the Nighthawk a month ago.
So I do now know on my features wish list the following: - 450cc is the perfect power class for me, too bad no one makes one anymore. 250cc in a bike too small, 600+cc seems overkill for what I want to do - I'd like something with a bit lower seat (my CB450SC is at about 30.5, I'd like something more like 28-29) Can't beat it for comfort though. - Something that weighs less than 400 lbs (ha ha ha) - Where is that battery actually hiding? I can see the red cap over the positive and nothing else. - No sport bike crotch rocket styling - Something newer that starts easily, less fussy all the way around etc. Call me lazy but I'm spoiled with my put on the helmet, boots, jacket, turn the key and go of my Vepsa. None of this planning 10 minutes ahead for warm up. It's like starting up a Mac (Vepsa) vs starting up a PC (my Nighthawk) if you know what I mean. - Something newer that supports a lighting system strong enough to actually use at night to both light up the road and be seen. - Something with better gas mileage or larger fuel tank so I don't have to fill up at 109 miles. Kind of puts the damper on long range riding when fuel stations are far and few between. So what nearly matches? Suzuki LS 650 Savage, Suzuki Boulevard S40, Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD... note they all have that Nighthawk look to them. Larger displacement than I think I want/need. Though just by looks alone, the fact that I come from a family of former Moto Guzzi riders and if I threw my above wish list out the window, my bike of choice would be a Nevada Classic 750.
