Replacing the battery is so much more cost effective than trying to salvage
whats left of the life of an old one. Almost ALL batteries come off the same
assembly line, So Buying a certain brand should not matter. I  bought a new
battery from Wal-Mart last year and have had no problems with it so far. Make
sure you put the Acid in it very carefully as to not spill it everywhere. They
give you just enough to fill ALL the cells full but if you spill some then you
are in a bit of trouble. Fill all the cells to the full line. Take your time as
there will be air bubbles in the cells. Almost like a carbonated drink. So wait
for the air bubbles to go away before you go through and fill them up the rest
of the way. Make sure you use all the acid.
Good luck

Its seems that the battery on my 84 700S is getting tired.  I have a battery
tender on it for the winter but the old battery seems to be through.  I have
read about people recharging their old battery with some success but I know
nothing about it.  There is some guy on ebay selling information about how to
do this.  Do any of you have successful experience in doing this?  What do you
think - should I just go buy a new battery?  If so, is there a better brand to
search for?
Thanks for your help!  In the time I have owned my bike, you folks have helped
me a lot!
Mike
