Yes, please! At 30K miles, I'm getting some chain noise, and would like to
"not fix what isn't broke"!

There was an improved cam chain tensioner for those (now only part
available if at all) I would replace the cam chain and tensioner at that
mileage. Now the trick is to do it without disturbing anything. As long as it
doesn't smoke and runs well, I would avoid messing with a good thing. What am I
talking about ? The manual says to remove the upper end and a ton of stuff to
do this. There is a better way. I can walk you through the process. BUT, you
have to accept that this requires you to remove the engine. If you're up for
it. my method will leave the head and cylinder block in place with the pistons
still in place. For a skilled tech this would take about eight hours. For a
novice, expect it to take up a lot of room for and time. Good winter project.

54K miles on bike does not smoke, runs like a bear but noticablerattle at lower
rpms & idle. The bike seams to be bullet proof.Searching NML history I've read
about CC Adjuster, Chain or StainlessSteel valve guides. We just ordered a
Clymers not received yet. Wouldit smoke if the valve guides were bad & has
anyone heard of a chainbreaking or jumping? Is there a breif description or
onlineillustration to verify the tensioner first - I'm goin in....
