I used velcro on my GoldWing side covers. It works wherever the panel makes
contact with the frame - and where it doesn't it's easy to attach something to
the frame with a radiator hose so it makes contact with the panel. Buy the
velcro tabs where both tabs have one side sticky, Graham

I've often wondered about glassing some hard drive magnets onto the back
side of my panel to see if that would make them stick on better. Another friend
of mine actually threads a small bit of fishing line through one stud and ties
the other end to the frame so if it does fall off it won't go far.

On second thought, I always thought that those panels could be better
fastened with hinges, that screw off for removal. Since you're motivated to do
something, and have an otherwise junk panel, to improve it (read:hack-job) you
could try Ace Hardware for some big 2" door hinges and cut them down.

Kyle,
Well dude, with that description you might have convinced me that
unless you start appreciating flapping body panels that one might not be
fixable. lol

It's not just missing studs that are the issue. The person who owned
the bike ahead of me melted the panel so it really doesn't fit well
without some wire holding it on.
Thanks for the idea though.
