It ain't no Honda but I never got more for my money than I did with the Ural. I took delivery in late November of 2006. I put about 12,000Km on it before I took off across country West if the Mississippi after my youngest son finished Lion's Camp in mid June. We put on over 7000 miles before we got back 12 days late for school. Last summer we Toured mostly in the mid-west and I'm now pushing 39,000Km. We plan on Touring Canada this summer and will start sooner since my son is not going to Lions Camp this year. I only get to ride my Nighthawk in-between Ural sessions in non-salt-on-the-road months because I refuse to ride it in the s...@#@!...@#it. The Ural allows me to motorcycle with my son who is disabled and cannot drive. It is a blessing. I am conflicted with not being able to ride all summer on the NH but that's my particular cross to bear and I do it willingly.
One of the attractions was the boxer engine which I've been in love with since my teens. I have owned VW beetles long after they stopped making them because I loved working on them as I continue to do with the Ural. My cross isn't that heavy... Winter riding is like sidecars a very eclectic taste. Those that do it love it. I can't explain it anymore than that. --- On Sun, 3/29/09, Minnesota Blue <[email protected]> wrote: > From: Minnesota Blue <[email protected]> > Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: went down today > To: "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" <[email protected]> > Date: Sunday, March 29, 2009, 12:06 PM > Good point!
